10 Things to do in December
Can you believe it’s already the last month of 2023??
I’m more than a little astonished at how fast this year has flown by. David and I are excited for Christmas and the opportunity to celebrate the birth of The Savior. We’ve also been researching other December celebrations to learn what different people around the world believe. So enjoy our list of 10 Things to do in December.

Simplify the Season
Make deliberate choices as to what you want to do this month. Don’t take on too much. And most importantly give yourself grace if you don’t accomplish everything you want to.
Start a New Tradition
This is only the second year for our Immanuel Wreath and we’re excited about it. The wreath has 25 different names that Jesus is known by, and every night we learn about a different name from scripture.
Again… a new tradition will be different for everyone. It can be making Christmas cards and hand delivering them. Making and decorating cookies. A new holiday recipe. The list is endless!
Help a Neighbor
I’m guessing everyone has a neighbor or two that could use a helping hand. Especially during the holidays. From snow shoveling a walk/driveway, to picking up supplies at the market, to taking trash bins to the curb… there’s sure to be acts of service to perform.
Make a Snow Angel
Why not?? I’m not sure my snow angel would not be as perfect as this one, but I do know I’d have fun making it. I also know I would never regret making a snow angel. But given the opportunity and passing it up would quite likely cause me some regret.
Make snow angels alone or with family/friends. Just have fun doing so!

Take a Walk/Drive to look at Christmas Lights
It’s been a tradition to take our grandkids to see the top rated Christmas lights in our area. It’s always been a fun and memorable time with everyone picking a favorite display.
Honestly? With gasoline costing $5.00+ a gallon in some areas of Southern California (YES! I’m serious!), taking a walk around the neighborhood to see the lights sounds better all the time. Good fun and good exercise!
You can also google your area to find Holiday Festivals to attend.

Stock up on essentials
This is important. The United States supply chain “situation” is hitting us hard in some respects. We’ve had a hard time finding reasonably priced all purpose flour to the point that I’m now looking to buy organic wheat to grind. We’ve been stocking up on water, paper products, and mainstays for our particular eating habits.
Don’t panic or spend money unnecessarily. Simply buy an extra package of this or that when shopping. It creates a tremendous sense of peace of mind when you have a backup of supplies.
Take Cookies to a Someone who Lives Alone
Easy peasy and it can seriously make someone’s day. A simple plate of cookies or other baked goods, along with a big smile, and I’m certain the smile will be passed along.

Acknowledge and Respect other People and their Beliefs
Our world needs more of this! Isn’t it awesome that everyone on the planet is unique? We can learn so much from one from another. It means acknowledging shared beliefs as well as differences. And most of all respecting one another so that we can live side by side promoting peace on earth.
String Cranberries and Popcorn for Garland
How fun is this? It’s a great activity to do alone while watching a holiday movie, with the kids/grands, or the entire family. Just remember, if you’re using cranberries to do it at the table. Cranberry juice can stain.
Show Forgiveness and Gratitude
Do you have a family member or friend with a gap in your relationship? Now is the season to let it go. Ask for/give forgiveness, and show gratitude to all those you surround yourself with. It will make life better!
And there you have it! 10 Things to do in December, including a printable for your fridge or bulletin board!
