Have a Family Movie Night
It doesn’t matter how you do it… in the family room, all snuggled up in one big bed, under the stars in the backyard or even in the movie theater. Simply gather the family together, make some popcorn or a favorite treat and watch a movie.

Clean Out Your Pantry
As we all prepare for the holiday baking and cooking season, now is a good time to clean out your pantry. Toss the stale and/or outdated foods. Do a bit of organizing. If you’re anything like me, an organized pantry saves money. You won’t be buying things you already have.

Go Bowling
No experience needed. Really! Gather the family, friends or even go alone. You don’t even need to keep score. Most bowling alleys have automated scoreboards so all you need to is have fun. Added bonus… Bowling can increase your metabolism.

Watch a Spooky Movie
It IS scary movie month but at our house scary doesn’t get any scarier than spooky. Simply meaning… no horror movies at our house. We (meaning me) do have a list of favorite October movies including ET, Arachnophobia, Hocus Pocus, Lady in white, Haunted Mansion.

Winterize your Wardrobe
Here in Southern California we don’t really have a bunch of below 40 degrees winter clothes but I have found that the more birthdays I have the more thermals, sweatshirts and warm boots I wear. Now is a good time to put the summer clothes in the back of the closet and bring out the winter clothes.

Visit a Harvest Festival
Bring in the season by visiting a local Harvest Festival. Pick out a few pumpkins to carve or eat and get into the Halloween Spirit with activities and games. And there’s sure to be delicious food to enjoy!

Celebrate Halloween
It doesn’t matter if your celebrate scary, spooky or cute Halloween, just celebrate it. We go all out spooky at our house. You need not spend a load of money. A simple pumpkin will do just fine. And all decorations the kids and grands make in school? We still hang our grandson’s kindergarten Frankenstein and he’s now nineteen years old! Celebrate your own way and have fun with it!
