Missed Goals…
Do I advocate not meeting goals? No. What I am saying is…if it has no bearing on my exaltation, I’ll give it another try tomorrow.
I had a goal of mailing our Christmas cards by December 1st. Today is December 13th and I haven’t mailed them yet. Why? I was writing our newsletter. It’s nothing fancy, not a masterpiece, but it is ours and it’s done. Most of the envelopes are addressed and I’m waiting for the stamps to arrive. Our Christmas cards will go out, maybe not when I had hoped, but they will be received in plenty of time for Christmas.
I had another goal. I wanted to have all the holiday decorations up after Thanksgiving, but before December. So, we put our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving when we had Kennedy for a four day “sleep over”. We still have two boxes of Thomas Picone ornaments to put on the tree yet we are enjoying the tree as it is.
The weekend the tree went up, so did the big window wreaths along with the front door wreaths.
I didn’t get the front door garland up until last week…
But the two small window wreaths and the lights on the garage didn’t go up until yesterday. And that’s okay.
There’s still more to do outside and I’d like to paint the front doors. Right now it looks like something out of the The Ten Commandments film. Tomorrow I hope to put the garland and lights on the stairway banister but if I don’t get it done, I’m okay. You see, Christmas is still two weeks away and tomorrow NY has yet another surgery.
And after all, the spirit of Christmas is more important than the decorations and Christmas cards. So, don’t sweat the little things!

I’m with you Cathi. If we set goals to have things done real early, we leave ourselves plenty of time if we don’t make our goals. And really, most of the time is doesn’t really matter anyway, as long as we enjoy what does get done. 🙂
