Yesterday we had a huge scare.
Our two year old grand daughter got into NY’s medication. How she opened the locked medication box we don’t know. She didn’t swallow any of the medication but she did bite a tablet in half. We didn’t know if she absorbed any in her mouth before she spit it out so we phoned our pharmacist and The Poison Control Center. Because we were able to find all of the medication (whole and in pieces) we knew she was okay. Nevertheless, until her parents picked her and her brother up, I didn’t let her out of my sight. I didn’t even let her out of my arms for several hours.
There were two factors in our favor. The day before I had filled the medication boxes so I knew exactly what was in them. Had I not, we would have been at the emergency room not knowing what she may or may not have eaten.
Our grand daughter had climbed onto the island in our kitchen to get at the medication (although I seriously doubt that is why she climbed up there) and she called Grandpa DD to show him what she had done (or possibly to get help climbing down).
I have moved all the medications in our home to the highest and most difficult to get to cupboard in the kitchen and I will be putting a lock on it. Please, do not trust any locking medication dispensers and keep the phone number of The Poison Control Center posted by a phone in your home.

We used to keep ours in a locked metal box. Kids are so fast.
Thank God for the wonderful outcome.

My son got into hubs meds when he was two, I was freaking out and hubs called the poison control and gave them the meds that were in it. We did find a couple on the floor so he only took one but thank goodness no harm done. But still scary
